Caitlyn Jenner Says She ‘Would Seriously’ Consider Running for Office
Can we expect a Kanye-Caitlyn ticket in 2020?
While promoting her new memoir, The Secrets of My Life, this week, Caitlyn Jenner gave her reasons for voting for Donald Trump in the presidential election and whether she would ever consider getting into politics. “I’ve got way too many skeletons in my closet,” she said, laughing, while speaking at the 92nd Street Y community center in New York City on Tuesday (via CNN).
“Or would I be better working from the inside,” she pondered. “If that is the case … I would seriously look at a run. It just depends where I could be more effective.
On Tuesday’s Late Night With Seth Meyers, she also defended voting for President Trump. “I’m not a one-issue voter and obviously — I know, I’m not stupid — the Republican party does not do a good job when it comes to equality and the entire LGBT community. The Democrats are better there,” Jenner — an advocate for the LGBTQ community — explained. “But for me, I’ve been around a long time, I’m probably more conservative. I believe in little things like the Constitution and freedom. I believe in minimal government, and so Republicans have done a better job in that direction.”
“My loyalty is not with Donald Trump,” she added. “My loyalty is not with the Republican party. My loyalty is with my community, and I will fight for this community.”
Jenner also shared that Trump asked her to play golf after he was elected, but she turned down the offer. “I don’t think he wants to get beat by a 67-year-old trans woman,” she quipped.
After Trump was elected president last November, Jenner’s former son-in-law, Kanye West, paid a visit to see him the at the Trump Tower in New York City. Interestingly enough, the 39-year-old rapper has also expressed an interest in politics, announcing at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards that he planned on running for president in 2020.
